Degas, famous for his paintings of young dancers, moved to making sculpture late in life when his sight began to fail. He made dozens of small sculptures in wax from his memory of the poses these dancers took. I made a special visit to Paris to the Musee d'Orsey to go and view them. On my return, I spent a few months making wax figures inspired by Degas' poses. This is not one of Degas' poses, but a sculpture I made within that series of work.
