Whether you wish to install a statue in a hidden glade or make it the centrepiece of your garden, Christine Baxter has a collection of stunning sculptures.
Christine’s work is predominantly figurative and representational, but the representational aspect is only the vehicle. What she is working towards is an engagement and emotional response of the viewer with her work. This is her concept; human empathy. Whilst making a piece she is consciously trying to understand the emotions that she is having towards it. Hoping for a similar dialogue and emotional response from the viewer. If we see someone upset and crying we often feel tearful with them, likewise, laughter is infectious. Christine tries to convey peace and tranquillity in the beauty of the form. She hopes that the viewer will be affected emotionally whilst looking at her work.
“Once you have the physicality of the clay and the likeness of the model in hand then it becomes interesting. How we all read instinctively the angle of the mouth the tension in the brow, the eyes, … tiny manipulations can create different emotions in the viewer. Not only are you dealing with weight and gravity, tension, poise, fluidity and solidity, but the language of the body. Without emotion, the beauty doesn’t live. As human beings, we are all experts in reading human body language. A smile is universal! The best figurative work has the ability to affect the viewer emotionally. It is successful if it gets you in the guts!”
Christine Baxter’s sculptures of the female form are alive with energy, beauty and elegance.
She has an array of sculptures suitable for installation indoors or outdoors. If you’re searching for sensual, striking or meditative statues, she has female figurative sculptures in a variety of poses. Her statues of women are perfect for creating an emotional impact in your garden or outdoor space. They can bring magic to any part of your space.
A statue can look different at various times of the day, and in the various seasons. For instance, it brings interest to your garden even in the depths of winter.
