Artemis
This series of winged figures are not meant to represent angels, but are influenced by the Greek myths. There were winged Gods and the Goddesses were strong characters with extraordinary powers.
This sculpture was modelled in Plaster of Paris, over a steel and aluminium armature for support.
Working in plaster causes me as an artist to work in a very measured way. The setting time of the pots of plaster, encourages me to look whilst the plaster is thickening in the pot then work very quickly whilst the plaster is a soft cheese stage. The plaster can then be carved after it has set.
After the statue was finished a silicon rubber mould was taken, with ‘keys’ placed in the rubber to ensure proper positioning. Then a shell of fibreglass was applied, to protect the mould and support it during the casting process.

Available in Bronze resin or Foundry Bronze
Bronze Resin –powdered bronze metal is mixed with a resin, it has the appearance of foundry bronze, and can be patinated as with solid bronze but is more affordable as it is cold cast in the studio.
Foundry Bronze – refers to the poured molten metal that is cast solid or hollow, in a foundry, depending on size, at a bronze foundry (using the traditional lost wax process). It is more robust and can last 100's of years.
